When the Carnell Group told us about the Northamptonshire Police Community Initiative Against Violence (CIRV) sponsorship appeal, we were happy to help.
The initiative recognizes that many young people are vulnerable and marginalised, turning to gangs and at risk of engaging in criminal activity. The COVID crisis has exacerbated this issue, with many youngsters disproportionately impacted.
The My Back Yard project, set up as part of the CIRV, works at breaking the cycle of reoffending, protecting the vulnerable, improving young people’s prospects and ultimately, reducing crime.
The recent appeal was a great success, raising several thousands of pounds . This money was used to send a number of very vulnerable and marginalised young people on a woodland skills survival intervention. This intervention has increased the wellbeing, self-confidence and self-esteem of the young people involved; benefits that are hard to achieve and that make a real difference to their progression.
The CIRV are always looking for partners to fund projects, sports and other activities, and to offer sector based training, flavour days, site visits or even potential pathways to apprenticeships. If you think you could help, email the Northants Police CIRV team to find out more.
